Taka Sushi Introduce
For Texans with a discerning palate for fresh, authentic Japanese cuisine, Taka Sushi stands as a commendable destination in the heart of downtown Houston. Located at 930 Main St Suite T240-C, this Japanese restaurant has carved out a niche for itself as a reliable spot for quality sushi, particularly favored by those looking for a delicious and efficient meal on the go. Unlike some establishments that compromise on quality for speed, Taka Sushi aims to deliver both, making it a valuable addition to Houston's diverse culinary landscape.
Taka Sushi is often celebrated for its commitment to the fundamentals of good sushi. Patrons frequently highlight the freshness and preparation of their fish, with the salmon, in particular, receiving high praise for its fresh taste and lack of odor. This attention to detail extends to their rice, which is described as well-prepared, with a balanced vinegar flavor and a texture that holds together perfectly when picked up, yet crumbles delicately with each bite – a true mark of expertly prepared sushi rice.
Their menu features a variety of classic and specialty rolls, along with nigiri and other Japanese staples. Customers appreciate the thoughtful ratio of rice to fish in their rolls, ensuring that the flavor of the seafood is never overshadowed by an excess of rice. The nigiri portions are noted to be fairly generous, providing a satisfying bite without being overwhelmingly large, striking an excellent balance between rice and fish.
While the downtown location might be tucked away for some, Taka Sushi generally enjoys a reputation for providing good value and consistently fresh offerings. It's become a go-to spot for many locals, especially those working in the vicinity, who need a quick and satisfying lunch that doesn't compromise on the authentic Japanese flavors they crave. The overall consensus points to Taka Sushi as a solid choice for quality sushi in a convenient downtown setting.
Taka Sushi is strategically located at 930 Main St Suite T240-C, Houston, TX 77002, USA. This address places it squarely in the bustling heart of downtown Houston, within the commercial and business district. Its specific suite number, T240-C, often indicates a location within a larger building or a complex, possibly on a tunnel level or a specific floor, common in Houston's downtown architecture.
For Texans navigating the urban core, this location offers significant accessibility. It is within comfortable walking distance for thousands of professionals working in the numerous surrounding office towers and for residents living in nearby downtown apartments. The 930 Main Street address is also well-served by Houston's METRORail system, with several stations such as Main Street Square and Preston nearby. This makes it a convenient dining option for those commuting via public transit.
While downtown parking can sometimes be challenging, there are numerous public parking garages and lots within a short distance of Main Street, offering viable options for patrons who drive. The fact that it's situated within a larger complex (like The Finn, as hinted by some external information) can also mean easier indoor access, especially during inclement weather, adding to its convenience for local patrons.
The vibrancy of downtown Houston ensures a steady flow of potential customers, and Taka Sushi's location allows it to cater effectively to a fast-paced urban clientele who seek quality and efficiency in their dining choices. Despite one review mentioning a "weird location," its actual placement within a commercial hub underscores its suitability for locals seeking a quick and reliable Japanese meal.

Taka Sushi Reviews
Overall, great sushi place for on-the-go. First time getting lunch here. Picked up the salmon lover combo because it was a little bit of everything as for different styles of sushi.Salmon- well prepared. Doesn't smell. Very simple, tastes fresh and great!Rice - Also well prepared. Nice balance of rice vinegar and the best part, it's not old and stale. Stayed together when picked up, falls and crumbles with every bite as it should.Nirigi - fairly bigger than most place, but not in a bad way. Good portion/ratio of rice and salmon.Rolls - Good ratio between rice and fish. Not overboard with the rice. Rice wasn't super pacted and pressed like some places. Crumbles with each bite. 👌
Oct 25, 2022 · Richard Vweird location not specified, gas station sushi doesn't seem freshly made, really mid chicken and steak, not worth going out of your way with so many other places around
Apr 18, 2025 · Braulio GomezFood is ok. Nigiri is premade and lacks flavor.
Jun 04, 2025 · Z TransformThis place has become my favorite lunch spot. The sushi combo taste so good!!! The ramen here is also good!! Love this place.
Nov 18, 2021 · Tivas Gunot trying to be unduly mean, but the tonkatsu ramen was the worst I've ever had, apart from maru chan instant ramen. Broth was nearly flavorless, and the chashu was seemingly pork loin instead of pork belly. The egg was hard boiled instead of softboild and hadn't even been soaked in mirin/soysauce, just a regular hard boiled egg half.Sushi seemed a bit overpriced for sitting there at the counter, unrefrigerated.
