Very pleasantly surprised! Been wanting to come here for a very long time. It’s best to split family style. Everything was super fresh and tasty. I’m not sure what my favorite dish was, but it was all phenomenal! Service was great too. Would easily come back. Great place for special occasions! Best sushi in Houston! Can’t go wrong with anything you get here.
May 18, 2025 · Keely TelfordSuper cool spot! I have never really cared for sushi or raw fish before but my daughter loves it and wanted to spend her birthday here. The service was impeccable and every single server that came by to bring something or pick something up said happy birthday to her. I tried everything they ordered and it was surprisingly amazing! Try everything! Get suggestions from the wait staff. The variety of dishes, the quality and freshness of this food allows for you to be adventurous. The flavor combinations are absolutely chef-inspired and amazing! Everything here is small plates and shareable so it's a great place to try lots of wonderful dishes. Lovely place, amazing service! The food options are huge and everything is delicious and visually appealing. DO NOT SKIP DESSERT! I'm not sure if reservations are required but I would highly suggest making a reservation, especially if you have a larger group.
Jun 08, 2025 · Sandy Cammarata-GarciaThere are two kinds of sushi experiences: the traditional omakase, where the purity of the fish and the chef’s knife work are the stars; and the modern omakase, where bold sauces, unexpected ingredients, and complex presentations take center stage. Uchi, without a doubt, falls into the latter—and depending on your preference, that’s either exciting or exhausting.I admit I have a bias and a traditionalist, I lean toward simplicity and precision. I enjoy sushi that celebrates restraint and craftsmanship—where each bite tells a story of quality and training, not theatrical invention. At Uchi, I tried the 10-course omakase, which included everything from oysters to salad to striped bass... and brisket and pork belly. While the service was excellent—attentive, knowledgeable, and polished—the food was hit or miss. Some courses were genuinely good, with creative flair and interesting pairings. But others felt like they were trying too hard to be different, and the complexity often muddled the core ingredients. A few bites left me perplexed, not wowed. It is pricy, but I don’t mind paying a premium, but I prefer when that price tag is matched with refined execution and discipline, not just ambition.Still, credit where it’s due—the atmosphere is buzzing, the menu inventive, and the staff stellar. But for purists like me, Uchi feels more like contemporary art than a masterpiece of sushi craft.
Apr 23, 2025 · Eric WilsonFlavors were out of this world. Service was impeccable!! Linda thank you for all your recommendations and amazing guidance. This place is worth it. Came for my birthday and they made every little detail count!
Jun 20, 2025 · Pamela ZambranoWhat an amazing experience. We came here for a birthday dinner, just about every person we came across wished her a "happy birthday" it was beyond sweet and memorable! Dinner was fantastic with many options for people who don't eat raw sushi. Highly recommend everything we ordered thanks to our server Nick's recommendations: lobster maki , tako, Spanish octopus, wagyu hot rock, shag, Brussel sprouts, salmon belly nigiri (raw), unagi nigiri, kinoko nabe and the fried milk ice cream. Every dish was so good and full of flavor. Very much looking forward to our next meal here! 100/10
