Frank's Pizza is more than just a place to eat; it's a piece of Houston's downtown fabric. The "za," as some affectionately call it, is known for its hearty portions and fresh taste, even when it's not straight out of the oven. While the experience might be simple – think paper plates and self-service for condiments – it's precisely this unpretentious approach that appeals to many. The "homely" vibes and calm environment, despite being so close to the bustling downtown area, create a comfortable escape where you can enjoy a big, satisfying slice. It's the kind of place where the focus is truly on the food and the company, making it a reliable choice for a quick, delicious, and authentically Houstonian pizza experience.

Accessibility to Frank's Pizza is generally quite straightforward. Several stops are within easy walking distance, connecting you seamlessly to our doorstep from different parts of the city. Frank's Pizza has several distinct features and highlights that make it a favorite among its patrons, though experiences can sometimes vary:
- Generous Slices: A consistent highlight is the size of the pizza slices. Customers frequently note that the slices are "pretty big" and "big 'ol fat," offering substantial value and a satisfying meal, especially when ordering two. This generous portioning is a major draw for many.
- "Pizza Buffet" Display: The unique display of pizzas behind glass allows customers to visually choose their slices, which adds to the quick-service appeal and gives a clear view of the options available. This "pizza buffet" style is a defining characteristic of the ordering process.
- Homely and Calm Atmosphere: Despite its downtown location, Frank's Pizza is praised for its "homely" vibes and "calm environment." Customers appreciate the relaxed setting where they can "watch Family Guy" on the TV and observe a "couple sat by the window talking," creating a comfortable, unpretentious dining space. The "old style vibe" is also a cherished aspect for some.
- Quick and Correct Orders: Many customers report that their orders are taken "quickly and correctly," indicating an efficient service process, especially beneficial for those grabbing a quick bite.
- Fresh Flavor: Even if slices aren't "hot-out-the-oven" late at night, the pizza is noted for its "fresh flavor" and not tasting "stale," suggesting a commitment to quality ingredients and proper handling.
- Variety of Seating: Frank's offers diverse seating options, including tall tables near the front and regular tables farther back, allowing customers to choose their preferred comfort level.
It's worth noting, however, that while many experiences are positive, there can be inconsistencies. One customer reported an extremely negative experience with an improperly cooked pizza and poor customer service regarding a refund/replacement, highlighting potential areas for improvement in consistency and problem resolution. This contrasts sharply with the generally positive feedback on food quality and atmosphere. Overall, the highlights point to a beloved local spot with a distinct character, though individual experiences may vary.

Frank's Pizza Reviews
what can i say, the 'za was good!came in with my aunt, and we were greeted by an employee. took our orders quickly and correctly. the pizzas are displayed in a sort of 'pizza buffet', with a glass separating us... and the pizza.we both ordered 2 slices (for each of us) of the "everything on it" pizza... (the name eludes me at the moment, sorry!) and we ordered jarritos brand soda. the employee who opened them for us might've been a trainee, because when he opened it, the bottlecap flew onto the counter. but he opened it, and that's what matters.paper plates. you grab your own napkins, pepper flakes, straws, toothpicks, etc.you seat yourself, and there are several options. a table, the wall, and looking out onto the sidewalk. the seats near the front door are all tall, so watch out. we chose a table near the door, so the chairs were high. so if you're short, or can't get up easily... maybe bring a ladder? (jokes aside, maybe ask for help... seriously.)the ones farther back are all regular chairs and tables.the t.v was playing family guy, and i watched as a couple sat by the window talking. the atmosphere was nice, and the vibes were quite homely!the pizza slice was pretty big, so that was cool. big 'ol fat slice, too. tip: ask for another plate if you're ordering 2, it might not be enough for just one!fresh flavor, didn't taste stale. not hot-out-the-oven - probably because it was already pretty late when we got there - but hot enough!(this doesn’t have anything specific to do with the restaurant, but i got complimented on my shirt here!)overall, great place! selfishly, i wish the employees were a bit nicer, but maybe that's just the old lady in me. it had an old style vibe to it, and i loved it. despite being so close to downtown, it was a calm environment, and the people were pretty chill!
Jun 14, 2025 · A. TinézAbsolutely the worst pizza I have ever had! Do not eat here! This was my first time trying Frank’s pizza. I went in and ordered a large pizza made fresh. I’m not sure how these pizzas are made, but the cheese was not melted. Literally shredded cheese piled on top a crust that seems to have been made days ago. When I called to have a new pizza delivered, I was told I had to bring this one back so they could see it was improperly cooked. Having paid $10 to park just to order the pizza, I was not going to pay another $10 to return the pizza. They would not deliver a new pizza. (I should note, I tipped these guys $9.50 for a $20 pizza). They had an opportunity to make it right by delivering a proper pizza, or offering a refund. Instead they offered no solution, assuring I will never go back. Absolutely the worst pizza I have ever ordered, in my 40 years.
Jun 06, 2025 · Michael WooldridgeI had a slice of mushroom but it wasn't the normal kind. They were out of that pizza so they took a slice of cheese and added mushrooms to it. It was delicious and I appreciate them doing that!
Jun 15, 2025 · Heather S.A longtime favorite for great pizza in Houston. We love this place for post-event hunger cravings. The pizza is always fresh and wonderful! The staff is courteous and helps you navigate their busy line. The 3 AM closing time makes it the perfect place to cure your late-night cravings with delicious pizza.
